The Tables of Content Restaurant is located at 267 NW Cliff Street in the historic Sylvia Beach Hotel in Newport, an oceanfront setting overlooking Nye Beach and the Pacific Ocean. The seasonal menu, which changes daily, showcases a four-course dinner with a selection of entrées, served family-style; there is always at least one vegetarian option on the menu each night.
You can choose to be seated with other patrons, or book a two- or four-person table. We offer one seating each evening, at 6 p.m., by reservation at least two hours prior to dinner time.
Price is $32 per person, which includes appetizer through dessert with coffee or tea. Beer, wine, and other beverages are available; view our current wine list. Corkage fee is $15 per bottle. A 20% gratuity applies for groups of 5 or more guests.

Breakfast for Patrons
Breakfast is included in the price of your stay at Sylvia Beach Hotel. We serve breakfast every morning from 8:30 to 10 a.m., which starts with a trip around the buffet table featuring house-made pastries (6 to choose from), fresh fruit, juices, and cereals, including our house-made granola, always a favorite.
Find a seat, pour a cup of coffee or tea, and enjoy the view of the morning light over the ocean while waiting for your order to be taken. We alternate our hot-breakfast options, with either an egg dish or pancakes (or puffed pancakes [also known as Dutch baby pancakes], or crepes) every day.
Some of the house favorites are huevos rancheros, a fiesta to the palate; chile rellenos; the Sylvia Beach Benedict with poached eggs and delicious Hollandaise, on house-made English muffins; Dutch baby pancakes with seasonal fruit; banana crepes with orange sauce; and almond poppy seed pancakes with almond cream sauce – these are just some examples of the variety of entrées we offer during the week; options vary daily. About Our Chefs
Our chefs since 2013, Rowan Lehrman and Nanci Courtney, are inspired by the wonderful quality and availability of local ingredients (view our current local purveyors here).
Rowan is best known as one of the founding owners of Panini Bakery, and was also chef at Café Mundo for six years. Born in Neskowin, Oregon, she learned cooking from her parents. Her father cooked at the Bay House when she was growing up, and both parents cooked for the Transcendental Meditation Center in Majorca, Spain in the 1970s. Rowan says she inherited a classical French approach to food with a “Bohemian vegetarian twist.”
Nanci grew up in Clackamas County, Oregon and lived in Boston, MA and Providence, RI for 27 years. She attended Chef Madeleine Kamman’s Modern Gourmet School. Kamman called her cooking “Cuisine de Grand-Mere,” which, roughly translated from the French, means “grandmother’s cooking.” “It is sophisticated farmhouse cooking,” says Nanci, who worked at April’s of Nye Beach for six years.
“You’re doing something different every night,” Rowan says. Rowan’s and Nanci’s nightly menus emphasize seasonal seafood, vegetables, and fruits. Everything on the menu is house-made, from the breads and sauces and vinaigrettes to the astounding desserts.
The Tables of Content is perfect for bridal showers, business meetings, fundraisers, luncheons, office or family parties, and other events for up to 42 people. Enjoy the legendary atmosphere, food and service of this historic site, which was listed on the National Historic Register of Places as the New Cliff House in 1986 (it was built in 1913 in the Craftsman style, and was also known for many years in the area as the Hotel Gilmore). A wonderful venue for larger dinner groups, and small celebration parties, it’s not suitable for very young children (infants and toddlers).

The Tables of Content takes pride in the holiday meals for patrons, notably on Valentine’s Day (ie, oysters diablo, osso bucco, spicy chocolate soufflés), St. Patrick’s Day (ie, house-cured corned beef, Irish soda bread), Easter, and Thanksgiving (ie, herb-roasted turkeys, Waldorf salad, apple pie and pumpkin cheesecake) among others.
